Early look at the East

Everyone's top 5 teams in the East are the Heat, Indiana, Chicago, Brooklyn and our beloved Knicks. The teams in my opinion are still very close. That's why we play the games.

Miami:
Haslem, Lebron, Bosh, Chalmers, Wade
Key reserves: Ray Allen, Battier, Cole, Birdman

Bulls:
Boozer, Deng, Noah, Rose, Butler
Key reserves: Taj Gibson, Dunlevy, Hinrich

Indiana:
West, Granger, Hibbert, Hill, George
Key reserves: Stevenson, Copeland, Watson

Brooklyn:
Kg, PP, Lopez, Deron, Joe
Key reserves: ak-47, Jason terry, Evans, Blatche

Knicks:
Melo, Nani, Tyson, Felton, Shump
Key reserves: amare, MWP, jr smith, priggy

Health will play a big part in all this....
The knicks if healthy and clicking coming out of training camp we should be damn good. Same ifs on every other team.

Biggest headaches will come from teams like these below. Any of these teams could surprise all of us....

Wizards:
Nene, Webster, ok4, Wall, Bradley beal
Key reserves: seraphin, ariza, maynor, and their youth

Cleveland:
Earl Clark, Gee, Bynum, Irving, waiters
Key reserves: zeller, Tristan, jarred jack, varejao, cj miles

Detroit:
Josh smith, singler, Monroe, knight, chancey
Key reserves: Drummond, will Bynum, stuckey, jerebko (plus all the pieces to make a rondo deal happen)

Charlotte:
Mc Roberts, MKG, al Jefferson, kemba, (resigned Gerald Henderson?)
Key reserves: sessions, Gordon, Cody zeller

This will probably be the eastern conference playoff picture next season. Gonna be a lot of fun games. A lot of high level teams. Tons of wild cards.

  1. You forgot KMART for the Knicks as a key reserve.

  2. I'd start Artest and let AB come off the bench.

    1. You cannot have bargani and amare coming off the bench, that's a little risky.

  3. A good piece...far better than some of the doom and gloom coming out of other corners of the internet. The key will, most certainly, be injuries: any one of these top teams can have a disastrous season with even one key injury. Which is why we do, in fact, have to play the games. That having been said, team chemistry will be very important for the Knicks. In theory, the key additions--AB and MWP--could play a very significant role for us, but only if they are able to fit within a coherent, well-conceived plan of attack. Hopefully it will be fun, as Knicks fans, to see Woodson and team figure it all out.

  4. First time I've read this blog. So nice to find some positivity. The Knocks lost four forty year oldswho either gave them nothing or gave them a boost for the first 20 games and then disappeared. They replaced them with Bargnani who is a serious offensive threat as a 4/5, MWP who gives them the best perimeter defender at the 3/4 -that they've had in years, Hardaway Jr., and Shump and K Mart from the start of the season. Add C.J. Leslie and possibly Jeremy Tyler and only fool or a Knicks hater would say the Knicks aren't much improved.

I'm tired of professional sportswriters who use their columns to dump on our Knicks because they hate Jim Dolan. (Frank Isola, I'm calling you out). I rooted for the Knicks before he ever bought them. Boycott the Daily News until they give the Knickerbocker fair coverage.

  5. Knicks by far have the most deep roster in the east, but I hope Woodson and melo can distribute enough of it to win a championship. I like the Andrea move because it shows we are still in win now move. If the Knicks superstars (melo, amare etc) can stop caring about touches and such and truly play to win, we are a deadly franchise. This could be the year, I feel it.
